The model 17 is my tribute to D'Angelico's Excel, and Gibson's L-5 guitar, two of the most important instruments of the early jazz era. After studying a number of these instruments and in keeping with many of their design appointments, I have come up with a guitar whose styling stays true to these but whose playability is designed with the modern player in mind. The guitar measures 17 inches across the lower bout, and is carved and tuned to project a tone far beyond its size. Master grade engleman spruce soundboard, with choice of European or domestic curly maple back, sides and neck. Hand-cut logo and scroll inlay, multiple-bound body, fingerboard, headstock, Soundholes and pick guard. Solid ebony adjustable bridge and tailpiece. |
