I spent the first half of 2006 redesigning the Broadway, in hopes of maximizing the sound capacity of the 16 inch body. I've come up with a few changes that I'm quite satisfied with, and I am sure the discerning player will appreciate.

When making a 16 inch guitar, in addition to qualities such as light weight, portability, and overall comfort, I am looking for particular qualities in the voice of the instrument which will set it apart from others. When voicing the instrument I look for a combination of brightness and warmth, combined with excellent projection. It is important that the player be in tune with what he or she is playing, but I look for a guitar whose sound catches others' attention as well. The Broadway has an intimate, responsive feel when played softly, but also "takes off" when you lay into it, and keeps up with and in many cases outperforms guitars of greater size, as well as other instruments in a group setting.

I make the Broadway with a 25 inch scale and a 1 ¾ inch nut. Made of solid ebony are the peghead overlay, hand carved and fully adjustable bridge, tailpiece, and pick guard. Open back, vintage style Schaller tuners are used on the peghead, which are very light in weight and hold accurate pitch, and when combined with the dot fingerboard position markers, lend the instrument a dignified, vintage air.
