The Broadway is made according to the guitar design employed by John D’Angelico in the late 1930’s and early 40’s. These guitars are quite traditional in their makeup, and the tone and projection they produce is on par with the great orchestral rhythm guitars of the past. The Broadway is made from domestic woods; I am currently using red maple from the Midwest and northeastern sugar maple, as well as the option of American walnut for the back and rim of the instrument. The soundboard is typically Adirondack or Engelmann spruce. The instrument features a 3 1/8” rim depth, and can be parallel or x braced, producing a punchy, loud, round tone. Available with or without cutaway, with a 16 or 17” lower bout, this is the most variable model I am currently offering. All fittings are made of ebony, and dot or block inlays are typically installed in the fingerboard. The result is a traditional, fast, percussive tone, warm and full, with ample projection and presence to spare.
